About

Swallows and Crows, are an evocative folk duo from rugged Cornwall. Drawing deeply from the rich tapestry of Cornish folklore and the timeless allure of the Celtic tradition. Their music resonates with authenticity and passion, echoing the whispers of ancient tales and the rhythms of the sea.

Formed in 2018, founding members Paddy Mitton (vocals, cello, percussion) and Miranda Shatwell (fiddle, vocals) met during another project, and ended up embarking on a journey to fuse the distinct styles of classical musicians with a more modern folk music.

Swallows and Crows’ music is a haunting blend of cello, fiddle and voice. Their hooky melodies and stirring harmonies are a combination of rootsy traditional folk, storytelling and the soulful ghosts of sea shanties.

Dubbed brilliantly weird by BBC introducing they have new music coming out early in 2025.
